(This sums up Tony Allen in Boston)
With the news coming out that the Celtics have given contracts to both Rookie Lester Hudson, and free agent Mike Sweetney, the question that has arised is who's in and who's out? The details of the contracts haven't been released yet, but the signings let us know they are considering keeping both of them. Yesterday during media day it was also reported that guard Tony Allen will be questionable for camp, does this put him in the hot seat? We already know that most Boston fans have little or no faith in him anymore.
Once the Celtics dindn't bring in a vetran point guard to camp, it was quite obvious that they planned on signing the rookie Hudson. However, the signing of Sweetney kind of came out of no where. Maybe they are considering using him for a back up center if KG is not fully recovered. That would put Sheed starting at the power forward position, Big Baby backing up Sheed, and Sweetney backing up Perk. That is the only explanation I can come up with for the signing, maybe they saw something they liked about him during summer camp.
The person that I would personally see walk out the door is Tony Allen. He is injury prone and really does not have a spot on this team. At the SG/SF position we already have, Pierce, Ray, Daniels, Walker, and Giddens. And I'd rather have all of these guys on the team than a injured Tony Allen, wasting a roster spot.
I really don't know what kind of shape Sweetney is in, or how he is been playing during the offseason, but I'd rather have another guy at the Center position than waste a roster spot on an injured G/F in Tony Allen.
Comment on your thoughts and who you think should get the final spot.
