Marquis on the Mic

Anyone who follows Marquis Daniels on twitter knows by now that he is involved in producing a rap mixtape. I am not going to lie, I was becoming a little bit annoyed with the constant tweets about the release of his mixtape. I followed him to learn more about him as a basketball player. Once he arrived at training camp he finally dropped the "mixtape" mic for awhile and got on the mic to talk about basketball.

Following the third day of training camp he let us know why he came here and how training camp is going so far.

Via The Boston Globe: "A lot of guys just talk about that,"  Daniels said of sacrificing on his paycheck. "Some people actually do it. I had goal in mind. This is a great organization, great teammates, great coaching staff. I like our chances of achieving the goal we have in mind. In the end, hopefully, there can be the glory."

I can finally say I enjoyed listening to something Quis had to say. Hearing that he has a goal in mind, and was willing to take a pay cut for it, makes me think that this guy is ready to do whatever he can to help this team win. Hopefully, there can be glory and we can see Marquis get a ring here in Boston. In the sitdown he also talked about how the second team and first team are pushing each other:

"We're challenging each other, we're pushing each other, The first team, they're pushing us, and we're pushing them. It's just going to make us all better in the end."

We have mentioned before that our second team is not your normal second team, and now we have a player in that mix that acknowledges that. I can only think that the skill level of our second team is going to make our starting five work harder then ever. Its common sense, if you practice against better players then it will result in you playing better in games. I can see Perk becoming a much stronger player on both ends of the floor, having to deal with Sheed every practice.

Last year I was able to watch a Houston Rockets practice at my school and witnessed the first string put a total beatdown on the second unit. On October 16th when we go to the Celtics open practice I expect to see a much different scenario. And when the season starts, expect to see a much better bench and starting five.

I went to the last open practice and it was mostly alot of drills. Not too much head-to-head stuff. A little hint: it starts at 7pm-if you want a good seat in the front, get there by 6:30pm. The Tsongas arena is decent size, but most of the practice is focused in one area, so try and get seats near the benches. It's general admission so once the doors open, it's every man for himself. By the way, the mixtape is really good! Not sure if you like hip-hop, but if you do, check it out. Are you in Boston attending college B?

The tickets we have for this years practice have a specific section that we have to sit in. I'm hoping the place will not be too packed and we can move to better seating. I am a fan of hip-hop, and have watched one of their videos on youtube. I'm actually in Manchester, NH at Southern New Hampshire University.

Hmm..then you could have some really good seats. Can't promise that, but if it's general admission and you have assigned seats, they could be VIP or something! Good luck! I might go this year, but not sure yet. I am def going to 1st preseason game @Garden this Friday.
