Perk, Couldn't You Have Saved That Elbow For Tuesday?

(Look at KG's intensity)

After going to the Celtics Open Practice last Friday I knew that there was a lot of intensity during the team's practices. There was one point during the practice that Paul Pierce took a hard charge from Lester Hudson, I could tell right then these guys don't waste their practice time. Even though they are not playing in a real game, they scrimmage and practice like it was game seven of the NBA finals.

Today, WEEI reporter Jessica Camerato reported that Ray Allen left today's practice in Waltham with stitches above his left eye, after unintentionally getting elbowed by Kendrick Perkins. The team does not expect Ray to miss any time. The incident occured during skelton offense drills, meaning there was no defense on the floor, just the starting five running through plays. Doc commented on the incident after practice:

"The sad thing is it was a skeleton offense. There was no defense, We run a lot of hand-off stuff as you know and it didn't go well. It was a hand-off with Perk and Perk had his elbow up while he was supposed to be handing it off to Ray. And those are the ones that hurt because you don't expect those cuts to come at that time. All of a sudden he was laying down and all of a sudden you saw the blood and said,  Oh no, I don't think he's faking."

My question is: Couldn't Perk have just waited three more days to raise his elbows like that? I'm sure if Lebron caught a nice elbow from Perk he would think twice about coming near the big guy again. Then again I'm sure Perk does not want to have to deal with that lil punk Mo Williams .  Anyways, I'm sure this will not affect Ray's ability to play come Tuesday. He will be out on that floor quieting the Cavs fans just like the team did on Wednesday.
