Rondo and CP3, Can You Guys Grow Up?

Going into tonights Celtics vs. Hornets game a lot of the hype was focused on the point guard matchup, Rajon Rondo against Chris Paul. Arguably two of the best, if not the two best, point guards in the league. Following Friday nights defeat of the Bulls, and another great point guard, Derek Rose, Rondo had these words to say about Chris Paul's game:

"Chris Paul has the stats that he has because he has the ball in his hands all game."

Take this as a "diss" or not but I have a feeling that this comment might have had a lot to do with the action during and after tonights game. If you did not watch the game tonight the action between these two started in the second quarter when the two got tangled up after a play. The two ended up being seperated by referees and they were both given technical fouls.

The drama between these two were not over there. Following the game, while Chris Paul was shaking hands and having a conversation with Paul Pierce, Rondo came over and gave CP3 a little bump causing a confrontation between the two. Paul Pierce stepped in and seperated the two before things escalated.

After that the camera's cut from the action on the floor, but according to ESPN things did not end there:

After the game, Paul pursued Rondo toward the Celtics' locker room and had to be blocked by Boston assistant coaches

My advise for these two players: Grow Up!!! Orginally I planned on just writing a post on how Rondo needed to grow up, but after the information came out about CP3 trying to enter the C's locker room, I think they both need to grow up. These guys are two of the best point guards in the league and need to realize that their emotions will be high in a game like this.

As far as Chris Paul's aspect of the situation, I'll let Hornets blogs disect that, but I wanted to take a little time to address Rondo's immaturity. Face it, Rondo has gotten very cocky over the past two year, a lot of this has to do with the success the Celtics have had as a TEAM. He has continued to show more and more signs that he thinks he is the best, and thinks he should be looked at as a star. On this same note Rondo needs to learn to act like a star, he can not be doing these kinds of things. The two players got into it on the court during a close game where a lot of emotions were probably flowing, that will happen. But the fact that Rondo decided to start something after the game is very immature, he needs to walk off the court and say nothing in that situation.

Situation like these and Rondo's immaturity may be another reason the Celtics are holding back on giving him the money and the long-term deal that he wants. If Rondo wants to start getting treated like a star ,and getting paid like a star, he needs to learn how to act like a star.

If you have any opinion on the events between these two feel free to post a comment. We love to hear your thoughts, just try to keep negative ones to a minimum.
