According to the Boston Herald, Rondo has agreed to sign to a 5 year 55 million dollar contract extension with the C's. The deal is not completely set in stone, but I would doubt that by the end of today, it isn't official.
This is a great thing for the Celtics today, as well as down the road. Rondo is a young guard, and can still be a little immature from time to time. This extension would release a lot of the worries that Rondo would just be trying to pad some stats this year to get a bigger deal. Now (or once it is official), Rajon can focus soley on the aspects of the team, and doing what it takes to win. He will feel secure with his future, and will be able to simply go out onto the court and play basketball. As for down the road, we now have a point guard the team can build around. I guess we are just going to have to get used to Rondo's 15 assists a game. Bummer. All I ask is that he shows up on time.
