Celtics Undefeated? Guaran-Sheed

Boston Celtics @ Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Final Score

Boston Celtics 105 Philadelphia 76ers 74

The Celtics starters must have had to many Philly Cheesesteaks before tonight's game in Philadelphia. Tonight's game started out just about as sloppy as an NBA game can get. The Celtics starters combined for four points in the first eight minutes of play and didn't look like they were ready to go 5-0. Rasheed Wallace led a strong charge off the bench giving the Celtics a 19-17 lead and ultimately resulting in a 105-74 slaughter of the 76ers.

The story of the night was the Celtic's bench and the way they sparked the comback. Although you have to consider that tonights game was a blowout, the outscored the starters tonight 63-42.  Rasheed was definetly the star of the show tonight scoring 20 points in 24 minutes of action. Sheed was on fire from deep and shot 6-8 from the three point line Celtics bench, his other two points came on a beautiful turn around jumper early in the game. This game and the way Sheed played just goes to show how important he is to this team, espically on a night when KG weren't exactly at his best.

As far as the other starter go, none of them really played great tonight. The Truth, Paul Pierce, tallied a quiet 21 points and continued his streak of 20+ points games. We did not see the assist from Rajon Rondo tonight that we have seen in recent games. However, he showed us a beautiful behind the backboard shot at the end of the first quarter (Video Above). Garnett, Perkins, and Ray combined for a total of 11 points on the night, not the most impressive we have seen them

We also so very good performances from other bench players, besides Sheed. Eddie House shot a terrific 4-5 from 3 point land and continued his attempt to break his own Celtics record. We also saw another excellent performance from big man Shelden Williams. Shelden put up 11 points tonight while grabbing 7 boards. A great performance for a guy not expected to get many minutes. Another thing that really caught my eye tonight was Lester Hudson's performance in the seven minutes he played. Lester came in and drained both of his three point field goals while looking very confident on the floor.

Overall, the game started out very shaky scaring some Celtics fan, but like we've come to expect the Celtics overcame the early struggles to post a convincing win against a quality opponent.
