Celtics 105 Jazz 86
In my preview of the game tonight, I mentioned the fact that the Celtics may need to get some rust off after the 3 days of rest. There was no rust as the team busted out of the gates and played better than the Jazz for the entire first quarter. As usual, the Celtics really turned it on in the 2nd, and especially third quarter to run away with it.
The night was controlled by Rajon Rondo. He finished the night with a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists. He controlled the tempo for the Celtics on offense with his ability to drive and kick out if needed. The green as a whole played awesome with 7 players finishing the game with double digit scoring. The Big 3 were back at the top of their game as expected with 68% shooting for 46 points.
The key to tonights game was the legs. You could tell everyone had regained the step they had lost in the previous three games. We were no longer dragging to get up the floor. I noticed at one point in the New Jersey game at the 6 minute mark in the 1st quarter, KG was already walking it up the floor. Tonight, with around 3 minutes left in the first, KG was the first one up the floor. That was when I could tell, this team was a whoooole different team than the one we saw on Saturday night.
After 8 games in 12 days you can expect the players to be physically, but also emotionally drained. We could see by their actions, that the intensity they started the season with, just wasnt there in the last couple of games. Tonight, they came out focused and with much more intensity. KG was clapping his hands on defense in the 1st quarter, surely something we didn't see a few days ago.
We know the teams got it when its there. The last few games may have scared us a little. The thing is, even with that struggling, we are 8-1 and have proven we can dominate when well rested, and at the top of our game. The Celtics take on the Hawks Friday Night at 8 pm at home. This is always a much anticipated game on the schedule ever since the 2008 first round of the playoffs.
