Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck has no worries moving forward with the teams recent struggles. Although he obviously (just like everybody else) wishes the Celtics had a 12-0 record instead, he feels confident as the squad begins to move forward. Wyc on how he views the season:
I’m looking to the next 10 games and then 10 games after that and trying to take the long view, and I understand the losses, but it doesn’t make it any easier to take
The owner sees the previous losses as a mere bump in the road. He feels that the foundation of players the organization has picked up place them in perfect position to make another run at the title. Grousbeck feels secure signing guys who have somewhat of a dark cloud surrounding their name. He thinks the veteran leadership on the team, as well as the other management that is in place makes for these changes to go easy. This allows for the team to bring in guys like Stephon Marbury and Sheed, and have no worries that they would ever break the chemistry with the team.
"I love this team, I love this roster. I like the character. I like the talent. I like the experience."
"I am really looking forward to seeing what happens this year. I can’t promise what’s going to happen but I’m really looking forward to it. We believe that this is potentially another championship season. We are doing everything we can to make that dream come true."
I like everything Wyc likes about this team as well. I think the only hesitation in his quote is the age factor. Will the team hold up for the rest of the year? If so, he knows, we know, Doc knows, the team knows, this Celtics team can go as far as they want.
