I'd like to start off by thanking Brandon and Travis for bringing me in to share my opinion on Gino's Jungle...I have been a diehard Celtics fan my entire life, and Celtics season ticket holder since 2007. For my first post in "The Jungle" I would like to tell you how I pulled that off.
Before the 2006-07 season I heard about a special offer from WEEI for $10 tickets for the entire season and despite the team featuring guys like Michael Olowokandi, Sebastian Telfair, Allan Ray and Gerald Green, I could not turn that offer down. I only missed one home game that season (Dec. 8 vs. Phoenix, one of the better games all year, but still a loss) as I went down to Maryland for a company party.
While I consider the 06-07 season to be my first as a season ticket holder, the Celtics did not recognize me as one until the following year when I called two weeks prior to the draft to discuss becoming a full-fledged STH.
Yes, you read that right. I sat in the last row of the balcony for 40 out of 41 games, falling in love with Al Jefferson and Ryan Gomes, fully enjoying every minute of the NBA's worst home record (12-29). The Boston Celtics did not officially consider me a season ticket holder until I called back the following year.
I don't know what made me pick up the phone that day, but I consider myself the"luckiest season ticket holder" due to the events that followed. Two weeks after I committed to what seemed to be another year of losing - well, let's just say Jesus came to town, he brought some friends with him and you know the rest.
Since that day I've missed just four home games (one in the playoffs) and seen two road games. I've enjoyed every minute spent in the jungle and do not plan to slow down anytime soon.
