Withouth further ado here is the story of how KWAPT became a fan of the guys in green.

As I sit at my laptop watching Indiana beat another top-echelon Eastern Conference team, (ugh) I'm glad the Celts are back in action tomorrow. The Celtics are a big part of my life as most of you know. But it wasn't always that way.

See I was born in NJ, and until I was about 12 years old, was raised to root for the Yankees, Nets, Knicks etc. One of my parents got the opportunity to work for Raytheon around 1983, and my family was wisked off to the Boston area. I was not too happy, as I would have to meet new friends, go to a new school, etc. We all know kids can be mean, and having a New York accent and being in the Boston area, I'm sure everyone can figure out I had a hard time.

Towards the end of the first year at my new school, the Celtics were getting ready to face the Lakers in the NBA Finals. At this point in my life, I was a huge sports fan, but not yet totally "into" basketball. The Celtics and Lakers series ended up going 7 games, and I wanted the Lakers to win. yes, me KWAPT, the die-hard, bleed-green, Faker hater, wanted the Lakers to win. But not because I liked them-because I so HATED everyone in my new school and they were all C's fans.

So what did I do? I went around and made bets with all the bullies, jocks and even a few "burnouts" that the Lakers would win Game 7. Well, we all know how that went, and it did NOT help me as far as fitting-in went. My parents ended up having to help me pay everyone off (ugly).

As time went on, I got more in more into hoops (there was a court that all the local kids played on 1 block from my house) and the Celtics kind of "grew on me." Any Boston or New England sports fan will tell you that this is a special place when it comes to sports-we become attached to our teams and athletes and are passionate about them to say the least. Throughout my life, sports, and most recently the Celtics, have enabled me to meet new friends, reconnect with family and have something to really believe in and stand behind.

I took my sister to one of her first Celtic games a couple years back, and she became hooked, and is now a season-ticket holder. Our love of the C's has also given us the opportunity to reconnect and spend time together. We were at Game 6 in 2007-08 when the Celts destroyed the Lakers and won Banner17. That was probably the funnest night of my life. I got to enjoy an awesome moment in Boston sports with one of my family members. Well, I hope this article has let you all know me a bit better, and also reminded me just how much the Celtics are a part of my life...
