Final Score

Atlanta Hawks 93 Boston Celtics 85

Box Score Hardwood Houdini Recap

Tonight the Boston Celtics were in Atlanta, GA with one thing on their mind, revenge. It is too bad they didn't come out and prove it. After dropping a game earlier in the year to the Hawks, the Celtics should have looked at this game as a way to prove to themselves that they are the best team in the east. Instead they showed no heart, or discipline, and dropped the game to the Hawks by the score of 93-85.

Boston moves to 25-9 on the year, and are now 1.5 games behind Cleveland for the top spot. Tonight was one of those night's that you could just tell something was missing. Was it the lack of the Celtics heart or energy? That is one thing that could easily be associated with tonight's loss. The Hawks really distanced themselves in the third quarter outscoring he Celtics 29-15. The Celtics had no answer defensively or offensively during this quarter.

?

As Doc Rivers said in his postgame interview, the Celtics were not the better team during tonight's game. The Celtics once again are into the habit of playing in spurts, and the Hawks clearly took advantage of the Celtics tonight when the C's weren't playing their best ball.

?

When the Celtics did decide to play "Celtics Basketball" it was a little bit too late, as their closing efforts came up short. Jamal Crawford was the "X-Factor" in tonight's game, he scored 18 points on the night, 14 which came in the fourth quarter, and 10 which came in a row.

The Celtics clearly had no answer for the Hawks perimeter game, while they struggled at the end with their own. With Sheed being moved into the starting lineup, that talk about "living and dying by the three" is going to escalate once again. During many points down the stretch the Celtics settled for outside shots, instead of driving the lane and working the ball inside. This is completly suprising because the Celtics just came back from a double digit deficit against the Miami Heat by attacking the basket and not settling for the three.

?

All five Celtics starters played over 38 minutes tonight, a night after they were all in the upwards of 40+ minutes. Pierce led the way tonight with 21 points after finally gaining some offensive momentum down the stretch. The Celtics will now hop on the plane to Toronto for a Sunday afternoon game that will mark the beginning of a four games in five days stretch.
