Celtics 93 Cavs 101
Cavs Lead Series 1-0
Like they always said back in physical education class in high school before starting the mile run, "Don't sprint off the start because you won't make it through the whole mile going that speed. You will end up having to walk." If that doesn't relate to the Celtics performance in game 1, then I don't know what does.
The C's absolutely dominated the Cavs in the first half. They went into the break with an 11 point lead after a Kendrick Perkins tip in. That lead never waivered until midway through the 3rd. As has become typical, midway through the third is when starters begin to be weeded out for the bench. When you least want the other team to go on a run, have no fear, insert Rasheed Wallace and he will disappoint you like always.
Sure, it was the Mo Williams show by that time, but that doesn't steer away from the time Wallace forgot to box out, the forced 3 point attempt with plenty of time on the shot clock, the time he could have stepped in to take a charge and instead let Williams get a free lane to the basket, and a wide open mid range shot that barely drew rim.
When all was said and done it was a game of missed opportunities. Late in the game there were missed shots by the Celtics that more times than not you would see go down. Pierce missed a wide open shot from in the lane, and Garnett missed a put back from point blank range; nevermind the several missed bunnies that were missed throughout the earlier quarters.
Throughout the game the C's had a chance to put the Cavs away. They had points when it looked like they would push the lead further than 11, and move it up to 15 and above, but they could never find it in them.
It was definitely a tough game for Boston to lose. If they ever get as good of a chance to win on the road as they did today they will be extremely lucky. They had the Cavs reeling, and they let Cleveland take it. The 1-0 lead, and home court advantage was right there for the team to grab but they just couldn't get a hold of it. This loss turns game 2 on Monday into nearly a must win situation. Just take one of the first 2 and we will be golden...
