Now I know I was not the only one who KNEW Sheed did not deserve the playing time he got in last nights game. When Wallace entered the game late in the 3rd, the Celtics had a 7 point lead. When he left the game early in the 4th, the C's had a 2 point deficit. Coincidence? I think not.
As I mentioned in my recap to last nights game, in his short time period he was in the game he (may not include everything): Forced up a 3 with at the minimum 8 seconds left on the shot clock (I looked it up on NBA.com play by play), barely hit rim on a wide open mid range shot, had the opportunity to step in and take a charge but instead let Williams get a clear path to the rim, and refused to box out.
Which brings me to my next point. When Sheed is in the game, suddenly you are watching and yelling at the TV, "REBOUND THE BALL!!!" Why do you think that is? That is because our 6 foot 11 center is not boxing out, not rebounding, not jumping, and is instead depending on guys like Rondo and Tony Allen to wiggle their way in to grab the board. Just watch... Next time you will see Rondo trying to grab the rebound away from Shaq instead of Sheed battling it out with Shaq.
So as a coach of the Boston Celtics during a crucial point in a ball game in which you not want, but NEED that victory, how do you look down the bench and say... "Ummm yah, you.. Sheed get in there". Wallace played 13 minutes, and his highest stat was his personal fouls. He went 1 for 5 from the field with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 personal fouls.
To add insult to injury, as was noted on North Station Sports "Need for Sheed Increases!" by Matt33
"During that play where BBD sprinted down the court and received that nice feed from Rondo, I watched both him and Sheed. Sheed was actually ahead of BBD on the play at the defensive end (when the play started), and I think Davis had scored before Sheed even crossed midcourt. Sad."
I happened to notice Glen Davis busting his tail up the court on that play as well, but I was not watching what Rasheed was doing. Good find though Matt, and I am not at all surprised.
Lets go Doc, be realistic. Stop forcing this guy into the game for absolutely NO REASON. He has done nothing to deserve the playing time so stop force feeding it to him. He is a better cheer leader on the bench, so leave him there and put in the players who care about the sport. This isn't a hang out club, where it is time to giggle and Teehee. This isn't a faculty vs faculty game at your local area high school where it is okay to throw the 1990 Honda Civic in cruise control. This is Round 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is not time to mess around and get delusional that Rasheed Wallace is about to turn it on and play like a superstar.
We may be tag teaming Sheed today. Brandon will probably come back with another post on this moron later.. His disgrace is too large for only 1 of us to get him to tap out.
