Gino's Jungle Dictionary: Rasheed Wallace

Gino's Jungle Dictionary

Rasheed Wallace: Old, lazy, washed up, no-good waste of money who robbed Wyc Grousbeck, owner of the Boston Celtics, when he agreed to a three year contract with the Celtics for around $5.8 million dollars a year.

If that definition right there doesn't describe Rasheed Wallace to a tee then I don't know what does. So far this season Rasheed has been a major disappointment to us Celtics fans. He was brought in by Danny Ainge to help the Celtics title chances and to give them a true sixth man off the bench. Instead of helping the team many will argue that he has single-handedly destroyed the team's chances of raising banner eighteen.

When Rasheed enters games I sometimes feel like I have to run to the bathroom real quick and puke. It truly is a disgrace to watch him run up and down the court with that Celtics jersey on. He has proven to be the total opposite of what it means to be a Celtic. The values of hustle, energy, intensity, and the desire to win cannot be found in this man. He is simply out there to be out there and he shows no signs that he is willing to put himself out there in order to help his team be successful.

At this point in his career we knew exactly what we were getting with Rasheed, but I don't think anybody imagined it would go to this extent. During his years in Portland and Detroit he was a trash talking, technical foul eating big man who would always be known for his desire to hang out on the three point arc. When he came here we all understood that but we never thought he would turn into the joke that he is today.

It is one thing if you're missing shots; it's another when you continuously choose to do things that will hurt your team. Forced three's, bad defensive rotations, and the inability to move his feet on defense are all qualities that will forever be on his resume as a Boston Celtics.

Even with all of this being said a conspiracy theory that Sheed would magically turn it around for the playoffs circled throughout Celtic nation. People believed he would accept his role, play harder, and do whatever it took to help the Celtics raise banner eighteen. Man were those people wrong! So far this postseason we have seen absolutely nothing from him. It has come to the point where you can expect a lead to dwindle or a deficit to grow larger when he enters the game.

And on that note I really have nothing else to say about the guy. I continue to wonder why Doc continues to allow him to step foot on the floor. I guess the only solution for the matter is to get Doc Rivers to read Gino's Jungle. If he listened to us all year the C's could quite possibly be undefeated.
