The Newest Chapter in the Rivalry

There hasn't been a great deal of exciting stories to talk about in this years playoffs. For the most part series were over in a timely fashion, and "bad blood" did nothing more than simmer instead of getting to a boil. Despite this, we are set up with the most intriguing NBA Finals matchup possible.

The Celtics and Lakers will tip off tonight and start a series that will without question contain high emotion and a little pushing and shoving. The current members of the teams don't really like each other. Lamar Odom has never been a big fan of Kevin Garnett -- Kendrick Perkins has never been a big fan of anyone -- then you've got Rondo and Kobe / Pierce and Ron Artest etc. etc. etc.

Alot rides on this series. The Celtics are determined to win that Finals trophy after the frustrating regular season this year, and the disappointing loss of KG last year. The C's never got their fair shot at keeping the Title in Boston. As for the Lakers, they have the complete demolition they had to endure in Game 6 of the 2008 playoffs in the back of their minds.

As much as the players want to say, "It's just the Finals and I am going out to win a series", it is so much more. Everyone understands this series above any other match up has way more meaning. With that being said, the newest chapter in this story begins tonight.

Do the Lakers pull within 1 championship of the Celtics (17 for the C's to 16 for the Lakers)? Will the Celtics win and grab Banner 18 while proving this core group of guys can still get it done, and maybe still be here for next year? Can the C's throw the Lakers around like they did in '08 to rattle them?

These questions and many more will be settled over the next couple of weeks. Buckle up, it's going to be a good one...
